Baby Einstein 4-in-1 Kickin' Tunes Music and Language Discovery Play Gym

Overview

A Baby Einstein play gym made of a play mat with two toy arches, a small Magic Touch piano that responds to a tap or a kick, and a prop pillow for tummy time. The piano detaches, so it can be used on its own later or away from home.

Key features (per Kids2/Baby Einstein and the Amazon.sa listing)

• Four modes: lay and play, tummy time, seated play with the piano flipped up, and take-along piano.
• Magic Touch piano responds to a press of a hand or a kick of a foot, with two modes: free play and melody.
• 70+ sounds and activities and 25+ minutes of continuous music, with phrases in four languages: English, Spanish, French and German (no Arabic).
• 7 detachable toys: crinkle medallion, triangle rattle, textured music note, flash cards, mirror, piano and tummy time pillow.
• Folds for storage per the maker, and weighs about 1.45 kg.

What reviews found

• On Amazon.sa: 4.6/5 from more than 27,000 ratings, 79% of them five stars; the count includes ratings from other Amazon stores.
• BabyGearLab tested it and named it "Best Bang for the Baby Mat Buck" among play gyms, praising the high-contrast colors and detachable piano, but criticized the small, thinly padded mat and advised using it on carpet or a rug rather than hard floors.
• A Mother&Baby tester used it for a month with her 7-month-old and rated it 5/5, saying the piano kept him engaged longer than most of his toys, but the pillow fabric was slippery for tummy time and only the lower part of the piano keys responds to touch.
• We have not tested it ourselves; this assessment is based on independent tests, shopper ratings and manufacturer information.

Who it suits

• Parents who want a play gym with music, lights and clear cause-and-effect play, especially if the piano is the draw.
• Homes with a rug or thick mat to put it on.

Limits before buying

• The mat is fairly small (about 86 × 69 cm) and thinly padded per BabyGearLab, so don't put it straight on tile or wood floors.
• The mat-and-arches stage usually ends once a baby rolls and crawls; the piano is what carries on after that.
• The toys and piano are loud and bright; if you prefer quiet play it may not suit you.
• Needs 3 AA alkaline batteries, not included; any batteries in the box are for store demo only, per the maker.
• The learning phrases are not in Arabic.
• Stay close to your baby during play, especially during tummy time.

Care

• Mat: remove the toy bars, piano, piano legs and toys, then machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with no bleach and air dry flat.
• Toy bars and toys: wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap and air dry; do not immerse in water.
• Replace all batteries at once and don't mix old and new.
