About the product
Overview
The Adventure Plus 2 is a forward-facing high-back booster seat from Britax Römer for children 100-150 cm tall (about 3.5 to 12 years, per Britax). It is installed with the car's 3-point seat belt only, which makes it a practical choice for cars without ISOFIX anchor points. This is the Midnight Grey version, model number 2000036853.
Key features (per Britax, the user manual and the Amazon.sa listing)
- Approved to UN ECE R129/03 (i-Size booster seat).
- Height-adjustable headrest that grows with your child, plus a backrest that adjusts to the angle of the car seat.
- Belt guides that position the lap and shoulder belt over the child's hips and shoulder.
- Light at 5.2 kg and slim; Britax says three seats fit side by side in the back row of many cars.
- Removable cover that can go in the washing machine (per ADAC).
- Made in Germany.
What tests and reviews found
- In ADAC's October 2023 test it scored 2.3 "good" overall (lower is better): safety 2.2, handling 2.5, ergonomics 1.9, pollutants 1.0.
- ADAC found a low risk of injury in both the frontal and the side crash, good belt routing and a stable fit in the car.
- ADAC's criticisms: slightly higher risk of incorrect use, minor workmanship flaws and thin padding.
- In the same ADAC round, the CYBEX Solution T i-Fix (2.0) and Maxi-Cosi RodiFix S i-Size (2.1) scored a little better.
- Que Choisir describes it as a simple, fairly cheap, compact and light booster; it replaces the original Adventure Plus, which Que Choisir had flagged for a design flaw in the height-adjustment lock.
- The Amazon.sa listing holds 4.7/5 from 318 ratings, 81% of them five stars; reviews shown come from several Amazon countries.
Who it suits
- Children from about 4 years old (ADAC's advice) up to 150 cm.
- Families whose car has no ISOFIX, or who move the seat often between cars, such as for grandparents or carpooling.
- Anyone who needs to fit a booster next to other car seats in a narrow back row.
Limits before buying
- No ISOFIX: the seat is held only by the car's belt. If you want ISOFIX connectors, Britax sells an ISOFIX twin called the Discovery Plus 2.
- The Amazon.sa bullet points mention ISOFIX connectors, but those describe the Discovery Plus 2; Britax and ADAC confirm the Adventure Plus 2 is belt-only.
- In some cars the headrest can't be raised fully for lack of space; Britax says to use it only up to 135 cm in those cars.
- ADAC rated the padding as thin, which may matter on long trips.
- The car's buckle must not sit in or in front of the dark-green lap-belt guide; if it does, choose another seating position.
Care and use
- Buckle the seat in with the car belt even when it's empty, so it can't fly around in a sudden stop.
- Never use the seat without its original cover; the cover is part of the safety system.
- Clean plastic parts with mild soapy water and no solvents.
- Replace the seat after any accident above 10 km/h, even if no damage is visible.
- Don't leave it in strong direct sun when not in use, since parts can get hot.
Why this rating?
A light, simple high-back booster that scored 2.3 "good" in ADAC's October 2023 test, with a low injury risk in both frontal and side crashes and very low pollutants. Que Choisir also tested it and calls it simple, compact and fairly cheap. It holds 4.7/5 from 318 ratings on Amazon.sa and is sold by Amazon.sa at a price close to its European price. We lowered the quality score for ADAC's notes on thin padding, minor workmanship flaws and a slightly higher misuse risk, and the long-term score because it has no ISOFIX and some cars limit it to 135 cm. We haven't tested it ourselves; this assessment is based on the cited sources.
A good fit if
- Best from about age 4, per ADAC
- If your car has ISOFIX and you want the extra stability, consider the Discovery Plus 2 twin instead
- Check that the car's buckle doesn't sit in or in front of the dark-green lap-belt guide
Product strengths
- Low injury risk in ADAC's frontal and side crash tests, with good belt routing
- Light (5.2 kg) and slim, easy to move between cars and fits three across in many cars
- Simple belt-only installation that works in cars without ISOFIX
- Cover comes off easily and is machine washable
- Sold and shipped by Amazon.sa at a price close to its European price
Before you buy
- No ISOFIX connectors, so the empty seat must also be buckled in
- Thin padding, per ADAC
- ADAC noted a slightly higher risk of incorrect use and minor workmanship flaws
- In some cars the headrest can't be fully raised, limiting use to 135 cm
