The Inglesina Fast Table Chair is a hook-on (clip-on) high chair: instead of standing on legs, it clamps onto the edge of a table or kitchen counter so your baby sits right at the family table. - BabyGearLab: names it the Best Overall Portable High Chair, with 75/100 (9/10 ease of use, 7/10 portability, 4/10 ease of cleaning). Its testers called it sturdy, comfortable and quick to attach, and noted it fits curved tables and many tables with skirts. Its main drawback is that it isn't the smallest or lightest option.
- Wirecutter (updated December 2025): its pick for meals on the go is the Phil&teds Lobster. It tested the Inglesina too and found it more padded, with room for slightly larger children and a cover that unzips more easily than rivals'. But it is a bit bigger and heavier, and its ramp-like seat pushed one tester's child toward the table.
Who it suits
- Parents who want their baby (who can already sit up) at the family table, at home or when eating out.
- Families short on space or travelling by car who want a high chair that folds flat into its own bag.
Limits and cautions
- It only works on a suitable table. Inglesina says the table must be 2–9 cm thick, and any skirt (apron) underneath must be at least 3.25 in (83 mm) from the edge. BabyGearLab advises against attaching hook-on chairs to glass tables, flimsy card tables or single-pedestal tables.
- Make sure the chair is clamped firmly with no movement, and zip up the clamp sleeves before seating your child. Never leave your child alone in it.
- There's no tray in the box, and food tends to collect in the seat's seams. A full clean means taking off the cover and letting it dry.
- It is larger and heavier than the most compact clip-on chairs, so it's less handy in a suitcase.
- An older version (2000–2001) was recalled in the US because it had no seat belt. The current chair has a 3-point harness, and Inglesina lists no active recalls.
Care
- Wipe the fabric with a damp cloth for everyday spills.
- The cover is removable. Inglesina US says to machine wash it on a delicate cycle in cold water (18–30 °C) with a low spin, inside a mesh laundry bag. Wirecutter notes the printed manual says to hand-wash in cold water, so check the label on your chair.
