7.0 / 10Worth it with conditions
A well-established hidden magnetic cabinet lock with a 4.6/5 Amazon.sa rating from over 4,000 ratings.
Wirecutter's reviewer said the screw-in version of this Safety 1st magnetic system survived almost four years with a determined toddler and notes this adhesive version as an alternative, and the system won a 2020 National Parenting Product Award per its Amazon.com listing.
It is held back by single-use adhesive, mixed reports of locks sticking or self-locking, and an import price on Amazon.sa that is well above the US price.
Weighted score 7.0.
A good fit if
- Follow the alignment template carefully, since the adhesive cannot be reused
- Keep the spare key in a safe place out of your child's reach
- Worth it if the import price fits your budget; otherwise compare with locally sold magnetic locks
Product strengths
- Locks are hidden inside the cabinet, so children cannot see the mechanism
- Magnetic key opens from outside and can be stored out of reach
- Push-button mode disables the lock when children are not around
- No-tool adhesive install with an alignment template; screws included
Before you buy
- Adhesive is single-use, so a misaligned lock may need replacing
- Mixed reports of locks sticking or locking on their own
- Imported listing: high price with import charges, non-returnable

About the product
Overview
A Safety 1st magnetic lock system that mounts inside cabinet doors and drawers, so nothing shows from the outside. You open it by holding a magnetic key against the outside of the door. The pack contains 8 locks and 2 keys.
Key features
- Hidden lock: mounts inside the cabinet, so there is no visible mechanism for a child to fiddle with.
- Magnetic key: unlocks from the outside and can be stored up high, out of a child's reach.
- Disengage button: switch a lock off with a push of a button when children are not around; an indicator shows when it is locked again.
- Adhesive install: no tools needed on most cabinets; a plastic template helps alignment, and screws are included for surfaces such as particle board.
Who it suits
- Families who want to secure kitchen, bathroom or drawer storage without visible latches on handles.
- Households that open certain cabinets often and want to disable the lock at times.
Limitations
- The adhesive is not reusable; if you mount a lock in the wrong place you may need a new one, so follow the template and instructions closely.
- Some buyers report locks that stick or lock on their own, or adhesive that weakens over time.
- Losing the key makes the cabinet hard to open; keep the second key somewhere safe.
- Small parts: the manufacturer warns of a choking hazard and that it is not for children under 3, so keep parts away from children during installation.
- The listing is imported from Amazon US; the price includes import charges and the item is non-returnable unless it arrives damaged or defective.
Care and installation
- Clean and dry the surface well before sticking the lock, and allow the waiting time in the instructions before use.
- Use the included screws on surfaces where the adhesive will not hold.
- Check the locks regularly, since children grow stronger and more curious.
