Why this rating?

7.1 / 10Worth it with conditions

A simple, dependable white noise machine: Good Housekeeping names it Best Overall after lab testing, PureWow names it Best Overall baby sound machine and measured about 50 dB on high at roughly 2 m, and Wirecutter says earlier Dohm versions have been a favourite since it began testing in 2016.

The Amazon.sa version has a UK three-pin plug and 220-240 V, and holds 4.2/5 from 220 ratings.

On the other hand it offers one sound with no timer or night light, the Amazon.sa price is far above the US list price, and it ships from abroad.

A good fit if

one fan sound without a timer or night light is enough for you
you accept the higher Amazon.sa price and the wait for shipping from abroad
Placed away from the crib at the lowest effective volume

About the product

Overview

The Yogasleep Dohm Classic (white, UK-plug version) is a white noise machine with a real internal fan. It makes a natural rushing-air sound that is not a recording and does not loop, without blowing air at your baby. It is used to calm a sleep space and mask household or street noise.

Key features

Real fan sound, with no digital recordings or looping tracks.
Two speeds (low and high) on one switch; twist the cap and collar to adjust volume and tone.
2.2 m cord, 220-240 V AC, Type G plug (the three-pin plug used in Saudi Arabia), per the Amazon.sa listing.
Simple, compact design (about 14 cm across and 9 cm tall per the brand's images), hand-assembled in the USA with a one-year limited warranty per Yogasleep.
Good Housekeeping named it Best Overall white noise machine after lab testing, and PureWow named it Best Overall baby sound machine.

Who it suits

Parents who want a steady, simple sound for baby's sleep in a room that picks up household or street noise.
Anyone who prefers a device with no app, screen or menus that is easy to use in the dark.

Limitations

One sound only (fan), with no nature sounds, lullabies or pink noise.
No timer, night light or battery; it must stay plugged in.
The Amazon.sa price is well above the official US price (US$49.99).
Sold by Marpac UK and shipped from abroad, so delivery can take more than a week.

Safe-use tips

Place it away from the crib and start at the lowest volume. In PureWow's test it measured about 50 dB on the highest speed at 7 feet (about 2 m) from the baby's head, and the sleep consultant PureWow spoke with advises never exceeding 60 dB.
Keep the cord out of your baby's reach.
